Key Nutrient of Diet -- FIBRE

 

Dietary fibre is a type of carbohydrate that can not be digested by our body enzymes .Fibre passes out of your body.It is found in edible plant foods such as fruits ,lentils,vegetable,peas,nuts and grains.Most of us are not getting even 12G a day which is very less.Men require 35 to 40 G a day and women require 25 G per day of fibre.We should consume soluble and insoluble fibre.

1.Soluble Fibre ---- Dissolves in water,help to slow down digestion,help you to feel full longer and thus can be used in weight control.    
Found in ---Oats,beans,barley,peas
2.Insoluble Fibre---Does not dissolve in water,helps food to move through digestive tract quickly for healthy elimination i.e.for people struggling from constipation.
Found in ---wholewheat flour,nuts,green beans.
